Smoked Gouda and Miso Garlic Bread with Hot Honey
Ingredients
For the Garlic Bread:
- 1 whole brioche loaf
- ⅓ cup 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp white miso paste
- 6 cloves garlic minced or grated into a paste
- 2 cups smoked gouda grated (Choose one with a low melting point—Whole Foods’ smoked gouda works perfectly!)
- Chopped chives to taste
For the Hot Honey (or use pre-made hot honey:)
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tsp chili oil
- Red chili flakes to taste
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, miso paste, and minced garlic until smooth and well combined. This will infuse the bread with deep umami-rich, garlicky goodness.
- Using a serrated knife, cut the brioche loaf in a crosshatch pattern, making sure not to slice all the way through—leave the base intact to hold everything together. Gently pull apart the bread sections and stuff the grated smoked gouda into the cuts. Be generous—more cheese means more gooey deliciousness!
- Using a pastry brush or spoon, drizzle the miso garlic butter all over the bread, making sure it seeps into the crevices. Wrap the loaf loosely in foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then, uncover and bake for another 8–10 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melty and bubbly.
- While the bread is baking, mix together the honey, chili oil, and red chili flakes in a small bowl. For extra drizzle-ability, warm it slightly. (Alternatively, use premade hot honey!)
- Once the bread is out of the oven, drizzle generously with hot honey and sprinkle with chopped chives. Serve immediately and watch it disappear!
