If you’re searching for fall appetizer ideas, or looking for inspiration for your own fig appetizer ideas, this fig brie prosciutto galette is a must. Sweet figs, creamy brie, and salty prosciutto come together in a rustic puff pastry tart that looks fancy but takes very little effort. It’s the kind of recipe that makes the most of fig season and feels perfect for entertaining.
Figs are one of those fleeting seasonal ingredients that make me want to drop everything and cook with them while they’re here. They’re soft, jammy, earthy, and sweet, and when you pair them with something salty like prosciutto and creamy like brie, you basically get the perfect appetizer without trying too hard. This fig, brie, and prosciutto galette is my answer to a cheese board in tart form. Rustic, unfussy, and exactly the kind of thing that makes people linger by the oven waiting for you to slice into it.

The whole idea is simple. You take puff pastry, pile it with brie, figs, and ribbons of prosciutto, fold it up into a free-form tart, and bake until golden and bubbling. A drizzle of honey and a little fresh thyme at the end takes it from great to ridiculous. If you’re looking for fall appetizer ideas or just fun fig recipes while figs are in season, this is one to keep in your back pocket.
Green vs. black figs
When it comes to figs, you’ll usually see two main types: green figs (like Adriatic) and black figs (like Black Mission). Green figs are lighter and a little more delicate, while black figs are richer and jammy, almost berry-like. Both work beautifully here, so go with whichever you can find at the market. If you want to dive deeper into the world of figs and find more fig appetizer ideas, this guide to fig varieties breaks it all down.
Why this works
- Fig season is short, and this galette makes the most of it.
- It’s a warm, savory-sweet appetizer that feels fancy without being fussy.
- It slices beautifully for sharing, which is always the goal at a party.
- If figs aren’t around, you can swap in pears, apples, or even peaches and still get that sweet-salty thing that makes it work.
More reasons to make this galette
This recipe really hits all the marks for what I want in an appetizer. It feels seasonal without being overcomplicated. It highlights figs in the best way possible, while also showing off how well they play with other ingredients. If you’re hunting for appetizer ideas with figs, this one is easy, impressive, and delivers every time. Here are some other fun ways to cook with figs.
It’s also one of those recipes that can shift with the seasons. In peak fig season, fresh figs are unbeatable. When figs are gone, you can keep the idea alive with roasted pears or apples, or even plumped-up dried figs. That’s what makes this a keeper. It adapts, it travels well, and it never fails to feel special.
I love that it doubles as both a fun fig recipe for a dinner party and something casual you can make for yourself at home with a glass of wine. Whether crafting fig appetizer ideas for a holiday table or a weeknight treat, it’s just as good on a holiday appetizer table as it is on a weeknight when you want something warm, flaky, and a little indulgent.

If you like this recipe but can’t find figs, try it with blackberries! Here is one of my other faves!
Baked Brie, Prosciutto & Fig Galette

Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry thawed
- 1 round of brie cheese about 8 oz
- 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
- 4-5 fresh black figs sliced
- 3-4 slices of prosciutto torn into pieces
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze store-bought or homemade
- Flaky sea salt to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme leaves for garnish
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or according to the puff pastry instructions. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lightly roll out your puff pastry sheet to thin just a little bit. Make sure it's pliable. Place onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Slice the brie into 1- 1 1/2 inch slices. Place the brie slices in the center of the puff pastry. Fold the edges of the pastry over the brie, leaving the center exposed. Pinch the edges to create a decorative crust.
- Brush the pastry edges with the beaten egg to give it a beautiful golden color when baked.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed, and the brie is melted. You can follow your puff pastry instructions here for time as well.
- Once the galette is out of the oven, allow it to cool for a couple of minutes. Top with sliced figs and torn prosciutto.
- Drizzle the galette with balsamic glaze. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt, cracked black pepper, and fresh thyme leaves for an aromatic finish.
