Cannoli Cream Dip (or Topping)

If you don't feel like making homemade cannolis, do not worry. This DIY cannoli cream dip will satisfy any and all cravings, and you can serve it with wafers, cookies, cake, pancakes, or my personal fave: waffles.

Equipment

  • Immersion blender, hand mixer or whisk

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup full fat ricotta drain any excess water from packaging, can sub for skim ricotta
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened, can sub for whipped cream cheese, mascarpone, or whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg or generous pinch
  • Mini semisweet chocolate chips to your taste

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Use a whisk or hand mixer to ensure there are no chunks and that the cream cheese is fully incorporated. Once the mixture is smooth, your dip is done.
  • If using as a dip, mix chocolate chips into the cannoli mixture. If using as a topping, spread the cannoli cream onto whatever you're topping and then sprinkle chocolate chips on top. If not serving immediately, store covered in the fridge.
